The New York design company, MSCHF, created a special line of Nikes called “Jesus Shoes.” The soles of these shoes are injected with actual holy water from the Jordan River. The shoes went on sale Tuesday morning for $3,000-a-pair and sold out immediately.
The shoes are white ’97 Air Max Nikes with a crucifix weaved into the laces, frankincense-scented insoles, and turquoise-tinted holy water from the Jordan River injected into the air bubble above the soles.
The sold-out shoes also have “MT 14:25” printed on them, which is a reference to Matthew 14:25, the Bible passage about Jesus walking on water.
MSCHF says they wanted to make a statement about how crazy, quote, “collab culture” has gotten. Quote, “We were wondering, what would a collab with Jesus Christ look like?”
For the record, the shoes are not endorsed by Nike.
