The NFL has announced that Raiders linebacker, Vontaze Burfict has been suspended for the rest of the season after a brutal helmet-to-helmet hit against Indianapolis Colts tight end, Jack Doyle.

Burfict was ejected for the game and ultimately suspended for the fourth time in his career. The suspension is the longest in NFL history for an on-field incident.
“Following each of your previous rule violations, you were warned by me and each of the jointly-appointed officers that future violations would result in escalated accountability measures,” wrote NFL’s VP of Football Operations. “However, you have continued to flagrantly abuse rules designated to protect yourself and your opponents from unnecessary risk.“
