In a hotly contested race decided Saturday night, Josh Guillory was elected Mayor-President for Lafayette Parish Saturday night. He will take office in January but as the transition to a new form of government is ongoing the work will start sooner. There will be a parish council and a city council that will govern the City and Parish of Lafayette.
Guillory told an audience Saturday night “We’re gonna implement our core priorities; that’s what we ran on,” Guillory said. “We ran on bringing back good government. We ran on reigning in spending, reigning in government.”
