The Louisiana Lottery Corporation has announced that Lotto players will be seeing larger starting jackpots beginning in August.
Beginning on August 5th, Lotto’s starting jackpots will be raised to $500,000, double the amount of the previous starting jackpot. In short, this means that winners should see larger prizes.
“There will be more to love about Lotto this summer with more frequent $1 million-plus jackpots that our loyal Lotto players enjoy,” Lottery President Rose Hudson said. “Our players have spoken, and we listened with a Louisiana game that is still just a dollar.”
While the price to play remains the same, the matrix has changed, bumping the odds of winning to 1 in 34.4, rather than 1 in 30. The match 5 and match 4 prizes will continue to be pari-mutuel, where winners share the prize pool.
Because of the change, Louisiana Lottery will temporarily suspend the multidraw option for Lotto to prevent future draw purchases that eclipse the new version’s sale date of August 2.
