Comedian JERRY STILLER died yesterday morning of natural causes. He was 92.
His son BEN STILLER Tweeted, quote,
“He was a great dad and grandfather, and the most dedicated husband to Anne for about 62 years. He’ll be greatly missed.”
Jerry and his wife, Anne Meara, first rose to fame as the comedy duo Stiller and Meara in the ’60s and ’70s. They made frequent appearances on variety shows like “The Ed Sullivan Show”. Anne passed away in 2015 at the age of 85.
And Jerry’s career had a late resurgence when he was cast as George Costanza’s father Frank on “Seinfeld”. He got an Emmy nomination for that. After “Seinfeld”, he played Arthur Spooner on “The King of Queens”.
Jerry also appeared alongside Ben in the two “Zoolander” movies, plus “Heavyweights”, “Hot Pursuit”, and “The Heartbreak Kid”.
Check out this hilarious blooper clip of the late Jerry Stiller when he played George’s dad on “Seinfeld”. It’s the “Do you want a piece of me” scene where just about everything he says totally cracks up Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Jason Alexander.
