After a two-week trial, a jury found that Ed Sheeran did not infringe on the copyright of Marvin Gaye’s 1973 song “Let’s Get It On” with his 2014 hit “Thinking Out Loud.”
Sheeran was accused of copying the song by the family of songwriter Ed Townsend, who co-wrote the original.
During the trial, Sheeran’s lawyers argued that the melodies were not the same and that similarities between the songs came from elements that are common in pop music.
