Apple is reportedly developing a new MacBook series that will be priced lower than its existing MacBook Air and Pro lines. The new product line is expected to feature a metal casing made of different materials and lower cost mechanical components. This comes as Chromebooks have seen a surge in popularity in the education sector, with shipments increasing from 13.9 million in 2019 to 33.5 million in 2021. Apple’s M1 Chip and A-Series chips offer superior performance to Chromebooks, and the M1 MacBook Air already starts at $899 with education pricing. If Apple can create an even lower-cost MacBook, they could dominate the education sector. Apple’s upcoming “FineWoven” cases for the iPhone 15 lineup will match a new Apple Watch band and be available in ten different color options.
