Paramount is reportedly working on a third Top Gun film, following the success of Top Gun: Maverick, which grossed over $1.4 billion internationally. Tom Cruise, who plays the lead role of Maverick, has signed a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to act in and produce several movies. The script for the third film is being written by Ehren Kruger, the co-writer of Maverick, and the intention is to bring back director Joseph Kosinski. However, no one has been officially signed on yet. It is unclear what the plot of the third film will be or when filming will begin, as Cruise is currently working on other projects.
