Earthquake rattles much of Southern California

A magnitude 4.9 earthquake and several strong aftershocks were felt across Southern California, with the epicenter near Barstow in San Bernardino County. The impact was widespread, reaching metropolitan Los Angeles and northern San Diego County. The USGS initially measured the quake as a 5.1 magnitude but later downgraded it. Despite the significant shaking, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. California Highway Patrol officers were inspecting key infrastructure following the quake.
