The film explores Reubens’ life and career, including his struggles and creative influences. Reubens, who passed away at 70 after a private battle with cancer, did not disclose his illness to the director during filming. The documentary showcases Reubens’ beloved character from “Pee-wee’s Big Adventure” and “Pee-wee’s Playhouse,” which garnered a massive fan following. The Sundance Film Festival will feature this two-part documentary directed by Matt Wolf.
