Director Baz Luhrmann has unearthed new footage of Elvis Presley performing at his Summer Festival Las Vegas residency for a new documentary-style film. The previously unseen recordings were discovered while researching for the Austin Butler-fronted biopic. The film, tentatively titled “TCB,” will showcase rare behind-the-scenes audio and concert footage from Elvis’ 1970s heyday. Baz Luhrmann aims to create something new in the Elvis canon that delves into the performer’s humanity and inner life, with support from Authentic Studios and Sony Music Vision. The project follows the success of Luhrmann’s 2022 biopic, which left star Austin Butler so immersed in the role that he needed a dialect coach to shed the accent.
