On Saturday, May 18, Kallie Johnston will give a presentation on Opelousas during the Civil War. It takes place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Opelousas Museum and Interpretive Center where Ms. Johnston’s talk will include and sketches of area soldiers to provide a glimpse at life in St. Landry pre and post-Civil War. She has served as an intern at the museum for several months documenting Civil War soldiers and museum artifacts from that period. Her internship is through a Guilbeau Center Community Engagement Grant with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
