Kmart, the iconic department store chain, is closing its last full-size store in the US in Bridgehampton, New York, on October 20. The closure was confirmed by the store’s employee and the real estate investment trust, Kimco Realty Corp. The reason for the closure was not disclosed. A smaller Kmart in Miami will remain open, but it is much smaller in size. Kmart, founded in 1899, once had 2,300 stores in the US but faced bankruptcy and mergers in the early 2000s.
