Boys Kops & Kids Camp

June 23, 2018 @ 8:00 am - June 24, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

SPOTS ARE OPEN FOR THE NEXT SCHEDULED BOYS KOPS AND KIDS CAMP

Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz stated, “The next BOYS ONLY Kops & Kids hunting/fishing and camping adventure is scheduled for June 23rd and 24th, 2018.”  The camp is located in St. Landry Parish with sleeping accommodations and are chaperoned by full time law enforcement officers.  The Kops & Kids outdoor activities program is designed to allow children of single parent or socio-economic disadvantages to have an opportunity to experience outdoor activities such as hunting and fishing free of charge.

The program is an effort to touch the lives of children between the ages of 9 and 13, the formative years, and create an atmosphere of trust between the youths and law enforcement.  The ultimate goal is to mentor youths in order that they help themselves complete their education and achieve economic self-sufficiency, and meaningful value to society.

Any child, 9 thru 13 who is a U. S. citizen and either comes from single parent homes or from socio-economically disadvantaged environments are eligible. Referrals are made by any Acadiana citizen, POST certified law-enforcement officer, and any medical or social work professionals.   To refer a child for a Kops & Kids adventure weekend, contact Debbie Venable at (337) 948- 6844 and make arrangements to either pick up an application from her or go online at slpsheriff.com and follow the links to Kops & Kids Outdoor Sporting Activities. Applications must be complete and brought to the St. Landry Parish Sheriff Fleet Office on 1130 West Landry Street in Opelousas.  Sheriff Guidroz and/or members of his staff will review applications and determine if the application is accepted.

Sheriff Guidroz added, “This will be our 28th camp that we have sponsored and will continue to sponsor our kid’s camps in the future.  Our kids are future leaders in the community and this camp helps develop positive self-esteem and clarify their values on which to build a successful life.”

On behalf of Sheriff Bobby J. Guidroz, this is Major Eddie Thibodeaux.
