Yesterday, Louisiana State Police released photos from the fatal wreck on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. The accident happened Monday afternoon, and as of this morning (Aug.28), I-1o West remains closed from LA 415 in Port Allen to I-49 in Lafayette.
“The initial investigation revealed there was a separate single-vehicle crash which resulted in that vehicle becoming disabled in the roadway. As westbound traffic slowed for this crash, three 18-wheelers and several passenger vehicles began a chain reaction crash.” – LSP
According to the latest advisory from Troop A & Troop I Traffic-
“I-10 West remains closed from LA 415 in Port Allen to I-49 in Lafayette. Troopers, firemen, and work crews will be working through the night to remove a large amount of debris and remaining vehicles from the interstate. Please continue to use www.511la.org for information on the road closure.”
