Erath Fourth of July Festival Changes

The Erath Fourth of July Celebration has announced that there will be no celebration this year in Erath. The long-standing celebration has featured a street fair, firemen water fights, great music, and a giant fireworks display. The organizers cited:

“after seeking the guidance of our local and State officials as well as the Louisiana Department of Health, and in cooperation with the Governor’s directives on social distancing, we feel as though there is no other option this year.”

The organization also conveyed that a festival of this magnitude involves a number of vendors, musicians, and sponsors. Furthermore, the post on the website stated that the health of the community is of utmost importance.

“In keeping with our community and festival tradition, our plan is to continue to “Light up the Sky on the 4th of July”. The fireworks display is contingent on fire marshal approval and government social distancing protocol approval.”

The royalty from 2019 will retain their crowns and continue to represent the festival when festivities resume.

“We still plan to celebrate our Independence, it will just look a little different this year. Thank you for understanding and for your continued support. May God Bless America!”
