What do you love about music?
What I love most about music is how it makes you feel and how music can influence your mood. Music takes me to different places, brings back certain memories and even reminds me of special people. When you hear that “one” song, it sets the tempo of your whole day! Now we are playing “Hour Long Commercial Free Playlists” all day and that means you can set Big 102.1 on at work and cruise all day with so much music.
What do you like about being on the radio?
I love being on the Big 102.1 not just because I get to listen to great music all day, but because the people we reach. I love making your workday go by faster. I like making it more fun for you. It is like when you have something so good that you want to share it with everyone. That’s my job every day!
Being on the air at Big 102.1 is a different kind of job. What’s it like to have such an unusual job where you play music at work?
Working in radio has so many different levels for me. I feel responsible for making sure our listeners have a great day through the music we play. They’re usually at work when I am on and I want to make their job a little more fun. With so much negative that is going on in the world, we make a difference making your world better, and all the music Big 102.1 is playing can be a pleasant distraction. I always think of you as a friend sitting across from me. We are just sharing songs and talking about things that are important to us here in Lafayette.
Who is your all-time favorite singer?
Ann Wilson of Heart. I always wanted to sing like Ann and play guitar like Nancy. Close your eyes. Can’t you imagine that? I can.
What do you think makes being on the air in Lafayette so different than any other part of the state?
Lafayette is so welcoming. I have lived in different parts of south Louisiana, but Lafayette has a way of making you feel at home; the people are so friendly, and they have such passion for each other. Big 102.1 makes a big deal out of playing such a rich variety of superstar artists and different kinds of songs, how do you feel about playing so much music on the air in Lafayette?
I love the variety of music we play, the superstars we play. They’re the biggest selling songs of all time by artists who are also the best-selling concert draws of all time. Our team at Big 102.1 has gone to great lengths to ask you about selecting each song. We have even put a lot of work into how each song is placed next to each next song and that makes a huge difference on how you hear it. Call me up and we can chat about it.
When you are on the air, how do you make it special for someone just
tuning in to Big 102.1?
When I am on the air at Big 102.1, I visualize that I am having a conversation with you. The main focus is always the music you want to hear with a few entertaining current happenings. When we are not talking with the music, we are talking about the things that matter to you if you live in or around Lafayette. This is home.
