The Iberia Performing Arts League’s final show of the season is Neil Simon’s comedy The Odd Couple, which will run May 27-June 5, 2022.
The play premiered on Broadway in 1965 and spun off a very successful film in 1968 and television series in the 1970s.
The plot concerns two mismatched roommates and their challenges to live together without driving each other crazy. Felix Ungar, a neurotic, neat freak news writer (a photographer in the television series), is thrown out by his wife, and moves in with his friend Oscar Madison, a slovenly sportswriter.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at IpalTheater.com or in New Iberia at Allain’s Jewelry, Delaune’s Pharmacy or The Daily Iberian. Shows start at 7:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sundays.
IPAL is located in the historic Essanee Theater in downtown New Iberia. The Odd Couple is directed by Charlie Robertson.
