The Acadiana Native Plant Project will present an Arbor Day program at West Regional Library on Wednesday, January 18, beginning outdoors at 4:30pm. Get hands-on experience and free seedlings!
The program will begin with planting several oak tree seedlings on the library grounds, with pointers on how to plant trees at home and what to look for in a nursery tree. We will follow up with a discussion of the book, The Nature of Oaks: The Rich Ecology of Our Most Essential Native Trees by Douglas W. Tallamy, in the large meeting room of the library at 5:30. Local grower Ed Wilhelm has donated 50 locally grown oak seedlings for attendees. Everyone is welcome!
