Junior League of Lafayette’s Collaborative Opportunity Grant Application is now accepting grant applications. The Collaborative Opportunity Grant enables Junior League of Lafayette to offer local nonprofit organizations funding for short-term projects. In addition to monetary funding, Junior League of Lafayette volunteers are provided to assist in the planning, execution and completion of the selected project.

In the 2019-2020 League year, Junior League of Lafayette’s Collaborative Opportunity Grants Committee awarded $17,000 in grants and hundreds of volunteer hours to 13 local nonprofit organizations.

These annual grants are funded through Junior League of Lafayette fundraising activities such as Tinsel & Treasures, Kitchen Tour and sales of the League’s four member-written cookbooks. Junior League of Lafayette President, Angelle Adams, expresses the importance of these grants, “By awarding the Collaborative Opportunity Grants, Junior League of Lafayette is able to expand upon the impact that these nonprofit agencies make in the community. Our collective efforts combined are so valuable in improving the lives of women and children in Acadiana.”

This year’s deadline for grant applications is 12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2020. All grant applications are to be submitted electronically to grants@juniorleagueoflafayette.com AND a printed copy must arrive via postal carrier or be hand-delivered to Junior League of Lafayette Headquarters, located at 504 Richland Avenue, by the deadline. Any application that is received after the deadline will not be considered.

The Lafayette Public Library has been adapting to everyone's new normal. Though our branches are closed to the public at this time, we have plenty of services to offer:

*We have a Digital Storytime on Facebook every Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:00 AM.

*We are offering a new temporary home delivery service called Booking It To You. Here's how it works:

Booking It To You is our new contactless delivery option for library patrons unable to get to the library due to health concerns, caring for out-of-school children, or lack of transportation. We can deliver up to ten (10) items, such as books, audiobooks, DVDs, and music to households within Lafayette Parish. Call 337-261-5789 to sign up or visit LafayettePublicLibrary.org/outreach for more information. We will do our best to have deliveries take place within a week's time.

*Drive-thru window service has resumed at the regional libraries (North, South, East, and West) and the Main Library with normal hours. People can pick up a hold in they've been notified (by email, text, phone, or app) that their item is ready.

  -  Milton Branch holds can be picked up at South Regional's drive-thru in Lafayette.

  -  Duson Branch holds can be picked up at West Regional's drive-thru in Scott.

  -  Chenier Branch holds can be picked up at the Main Library drive-thru downtown.

*All book drops are open. Returns are being quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in and put back on the shelves. (We're excited to be back serving our patrons, but everyone's health and safety is a priority for us.)

*Need a library card? Visit: lafayettepubliclibrary.org/getacard to apply for one.

*Have a reference question? You can email: reference@lafayettepubliclibrary.org or call a regional library for assistance.

*Download our Lafayette Public Library app for your iPhone or Android smartphone. You can search our catalog, place holds, and the app will let you know when your requests are available to be picked up.
