United Way of Acadiana offering free tax prep for qualifying families. The VITA program is just one way United Way of Acadiana  is creating financial stability. In the last two years, this program put approximately $8 million back in the hands of hardworking families through free tax preparation assistance. During that period,

volunteers assisted more than 5,600 Acadiana residents in filing their

taxes, helping them claim nearly $2 million each year of the nearly $30 million in Earned Income Tax Credit that goes unclaimed annually.

It is here you will find LARC individuals sorting through beads. They are first measured by size then bundled into a dozen of the same size/length. They are then bagged according to specific size.

#EmptytheShelters sponsored by BISSELL Pet Foundation this

You have two days to find your next family member!

#Emptytheshelters will take place THIS Friday December 13th from

11am-3pm AND Saturday December 14th from 12pm-4pm.

Adoption fees are $25. Applications will be screened and must be

approved. Pre-approval is highly recommended and you will also have

the option to come 1 hour early on both days!!

On Saturday, December 14th, the annual Old Time Winter Family Day Celebration will begin at 10:00 a.m. and last until 4:00 p.m. with lots more to offer. The village will be filled with great learning opportunities, live music, delicious food, Native American storytelling, arts & crafts and self-guided tours. In fact, Papa Noël (the French Santa Claus) will be here and kids will be able to write letters to him sealed with wax. Our artisans will demonstrate several holiday happenings from 1765-1890 such as how to make candles, soap, Victorian paper ornaments, citrus pomanders and more. Also, we will have a reading of The Night Before Christmas each half hour. Admission is $5 for those 4 and older.

Families will pick up Christmas hats and goody bags filled with coupons and holiday treats at the chamber's office, along with their quest cards which track the activities they participate in throughout the day on December 7th from 9 am to 4 pm.
