Women United, an integral part of United Way of Acadiana, is a diverse, vibrant community of women focused on advocacy, education, literacy and fighting for change to improve the lives of people in Acadiana. Women United has selected Brene Brown’s new book, Dare to Lead, as its "Dare to Read" summer project. From June 14 through July 14, Women United is working to have women (men are welcome, too!) in Acadia, Lafayette, St. Martin and Vermilion parishes read and discuss Brown’s book.

How to get involved? Simply go to www.unitedwayofacadiana.org/dare-read and fill out the short form to register, then download the reading guides and set a date with your group to meet and discuss. Groups are invited to discuss the book in one or multiple meetings — or even virtually.

United Way of Acadiana's Women United is presenting the 2019 Women Who Mean Business Awards on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the River Oaks Ballroom.  We are honored to be hosting this event for a second year, continuing Acadiana's time honored tradition.  2018 award recipient and Designing Women of Acadiana founder, Maureen Dugas Foster says, "It was a gratifying and validating experience to be honored with the Women Who Mean Business award for the work I hold dear to my heart. Seeing what my fellow 2018 Women Who Mean Business friends have been able to accomplish has given me a perspective that together we can make a lasting difference in our community."

Nominations are open through June 12, 2019.
