Welcome to the first episode of 'Moore Recipes to Love by Wendy.'   This exclusive web feature will be all about food and the journey of Wendy Moore Tiedemann. Wendy is a local mom and foodie, with a passion for cooking!  A few years back Wendy lost her husband Dave.  They both had a dream to release a cookbook, and did just that.  Before Dave passed away, they were able to release 'Moore Recipes to Love' and sold over 3,000 copies.  Over 80 recipes were in the original release, but Dave and Wendy had 'Moore.'  Which led to part 2, Wendy's new cookbook 'Even Moore Recipes to Love."

SNOWFLAKE'S CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE TEA

DECEMBER 1ST 10:00AM & 5:00PM

DECEMBER 2ND 2:00PM

DOORS OPEN 1 HOUR BEFORE SHOWTIME

At the 2018 Christmas Tea, Wonderland Performing Arts will perform an original play entitled "Snowflake's Christmas Adventure," complete with Christmas songs and dancing. Snowflake is a little white dog from Lafayette who sneaks into Santa's sack and takes a ride around the world with Santa on his sleigh. They will travel to Mexico, France, Italy, China, and then back home to Lafayette. The kids and adults in attendance will get a full sensory experience complete with food, songs, dances, traditions, and fun from around the globe. Your children will also have the opportunity to have their seasonal portrait taken with Santa Claus by Jason SonnierPhotography. Best of all, all funds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Greater Acadiana.

There are two types of tickets: VIP & General Admission. VIP seats are guaranteed to be close to the stage and come with complimentary mimosas for the 21+ crowd!

NATIVE AMERICAN CULTURE DAY

When: 03-Nov-2018 - 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Where: Vermilionville

The community is invited to enjoy the last culture day of the year at Vermilionville Living Museum & Folklife Park. Representatives from many of Louisiana’s Native American tribes and tribal communities will be throughout the village sharing their living culture through crafts, music, dance, storytelling and other cultural exchange.

Admission is FREE for this event.  

This year’s activities will include traditional Native American dancing, dance lessons, drumming performed by various groups as well as demonstrations. Demonstrations will include beadwork, weaving, basket making, tomahawk throwing, flint knapping and more. Kids can enjoy the arts & crafts station that coincides with the theme of the day. Weather permitting, participants will have the opportunity to partake in water recreation such as canoeing in the Petit Bayou and boat tours along the Vermilion River.

Tulane University & Pointe au Chien will also present ‘An Indigenous Curriculum: Changing the Narrative of Colonial Louisiana History for Elementary School Social Studies. In an effort to enhance the educational aspect an exhibit entitled “Louisiana’s Indigenous People will be on display in the Visitor Center’s Conference Room until December.

The Buddy Walk® will be held Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Parc International in Lafayette, Louisiana, with onsite registration beginning at 9:00 a.m. The majority of the proceeds will support Down Syndrome Association of Acadiana for programs and services related to Down syndrome. Additional proceeds will help support the national research, education, and advocacy programs of National Down Syndrome Society.

The Buddy Walk® is a one-mile walk and a wonderful, heart-warming event that celebrates the many abilities and accomplishments of people with Down syndrome. People with Down syndrome, their families and friends will walk a course then enjoy a day of food, live music, games and children’s activities.
