December 14, through December 17, First Baptist Lafayette will present The Singing Christmas Tree. This evening of family entertainment and inspiration will be presented at 7:00 p.m. Friday and Monday, and at 3:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Receive Our King is the theme of this year’s program.
Using Bible stories from Creation to the Nativity, this year’s program will tell the true story of Christmas. Music will include many Christmas carols along with a few newer songs for the Christmas season. The children’s, youth, and adult choirs will be accompanied by the church orchestra. Both drama and video will also be used in this family-friendly production.
The Singing Christmas Tree is a favorite holiday event in Acadiana, dating back to the mid-1980s. The tree is about 30 feet tall, and the choir performs while standing in the tree. It’s covered with over 100,000 lights that are computer controlled for a fantastic light show.
