The Greater Iberia Chamber of Commerce will host the 34th annual World Championship Gumbo Cookoff on October 12th and 13th in Downtown, New Iberia. The two-day event will start on Saturday with the Meanest Beans Contest and the Youth Gumbo Cooking Contest will be held along with several varieties of Cajun Creole dishes.

Sunday is all about gumbo with teams cooking a variety of chicken & sausage, seafood or mélange gumbo with both professional and amateur divisions.

The two-day event will have live music. The event is family friendly and will have a children’s activity area. No ice chest or pets allowed. The event is free to attend, and the only tickets needed are for food and drinks.
