Little Lambs Outreach invites you to join them on Sat., Oct 13, 2018, at 8am at St. Martinville’s Fair Grounds near Bayou Teche (200 block of East Madison St.) for their 4th Annual 5K. Don’t miss your chance to run/walk through the beautiful and scenic Longfellow Evangeline State Historic Site.
1st, 2nd and 3rd place will be awarded to the top 3 in each of the 3 age groups by male and female. But the real reward is so much more!
Little Lambs is an outreach of the InnerFaith Ministry for the children of the incarcerated. Their goal is to help a child regain their self-worth and to let them know they are valued and loved and to restore the family unit that has been destroyed by crime. Statistics show that 69% of these young people end up in the prison system. Little Lambs has worked with 15,000 young people over 22 years, and only 6 have ended up in the prison system.
The simple goal of all of this work, according to Russell Roseberry, a volunteer along with his family, is to “support a child”. The program has grown from 400-600 children just this year, with the addition of Jefferson Parish. Roseberry says that a group of quintuplets who have been in the program since the age of 5 have all recently graduated from high school and are doing well.
Come out and have a great time on Oct 13 and support the children! You are also invited to stay afterwards for food and non-alcoholic drinks.
