In conjunction with the Arbor Day Foundation and the Lafayette Garden Club, Mayor-President Joel Robideaux and Lafayette Consolidated Government will celebrate Arbor Day with a tree planting ceremony and proclamation.
Friday, January 18th at 10 a.m. at Thomas Park
300 Geraldine Dr., Lafayette, LA
The proclamation values planting trees to “improve air quality, provide shade, reduce storm water run-off, decrease noise pollution, provide wildlife habitat, increase property values, attract tourists and businesses, beautify neighborhoods, and create a stronger sense of community.”
For 27 years now, Lafayette has achieved Tree City USA status by meeting the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
With the continued efforts of Project Front Yard and Keep Lafayette Beautiful, Lafayette will remain committed to the beautification and revitalization of the community.
