Festival of Words seeks volunteer poets, writers, lyricists and songwriters for a fundraiser, Words for You. In this project, artists craft custom poems, stories or songs for patrons.
HOW IT WORKS:
1. Authors volunteer to write one creative work.
2. Patrons review list of authors
3. Each patron chooses an author to write a customer creative work for them.
4. Patron makes a donation to Festival of Words
5. Each author writes a custom work using information that is provided (July 15—August 27, 2021)
6. Works are read aloud at Zoom event on September 16

Funds raised by Words for You contribute to the 14th annual Festival of Words. The Festival of Words brings established authors from all over the world to Acadiana to give public readings, writing workshops in community centers and public schools during the first week of November. These funds will help to ensure the continued expansion and success of these programs. This year’s festival will feature poet and visual artist Malaika Favorite, musician Louis Michot (of Lost Bayou Ramblers), and Aimee Nezhukumatahil, award winning author of “Worlds of Wonder.”
