The Community of Jesus Crucified will host the annual Fete Dieu du Teche on Sunday, August 15, 2021. This 40-mile Eucharistic Procession by boat will take place along the waters of the Bayou Teche on the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Patroness of the Acadian people. This day also marks the 256th anniversary of the arrival of French-Canadian immigrants who brought the Catholic faith to Acadiana after enduring great suffering and religious persecution.
