Lafayette Fire Fighters Fill the Boot to Raise
Critical Funds for Local MDA Families
WHAT: The Lafayette Fire Department and Local 619, together with the Muscular Dystrophy Association, will be out on September 7 with boots in hand for a Fill the Boot fundraising campaign to help free kids and adults from the harm of muscular dystrophy, ALS, and related diseases that severely weaken muscle strength and mobility. The LFD has already raised over $23,000 for MDA this year and continue to fundraise.

WHY: For more than six decades, fire fighters have stood on the front lines to fuel MDA’s mission to free individuals — and the families who love them — from the harm of muscular dystrophy and other related life-threatening diseases that take away people’s ability to walk, move, smile, talk and even breathe.
Funds raised through 2018 Fill the Boot drives empower families with life-enhancing resources and support, including state-of-the-art support groups and a Care Center at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, LA.
They also help give more than 100 Louisiana kids the opportunity to experience the best week of the year where anything is possible at MDA summer camp at no cost to their families at Camp Starlite (Pollock, LA).
