The Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up with Girl Scouts, offering recreation facilities for cookie sales – COVID edition. The pandemic prevented Girl Scouts from selling cookies at storefronts, as they do every year, but Lafayette Consolidated Government welcomes the opportunity to share its facilities for drive-through service. “The safety of our girls, families, and customers is our top priority, and being able to offer drive-thru cookie booths, as a way to limit direct contact between girls and customers, is a great opportunity.” Girl Scouts of Louisiana Pines to the Gulf (GSLPG) Director of Marketing and Communications Amaris Harris said.
Beginning this weekend, Girl Scouts will sell cookies on Saturdays and Sundays over four weekends. All sales will be conducted in recreation center parking lots, with the exception of this weekend. Because of extreme cold weather, sales this weekend will be inside recreation facilities. Everyone is required to wear a mask to enter buildings.
Sales are scheduled on the following days at the following recreation centers: Comeaux, Thomas Park, Girard Park, and Robicheaux:
- February 13-14, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., lobbies of each recreation center
- February 20-21, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., recreation center parking lots
- February 27-28, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., recreation center parking lots
- March 6-7, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., recreation center parking lots
Because Girl Scouts set their own schedules, customers should use the Cookie Finder app found on the GSLPG website, www.gslpg.org. It shows when scouts are scheduled at the recreation centers. Cookie booths at Lafayette Parks and Recreation locations will be visible in the cookie finder app.
