The Lafayette Genealogical Society monthly meeting will be Thursday, July 18, 2024 beginning at 6:00p.m., Lafayette Public Library, Southside Branch, 6101 Johnston St., Lafayette, LA.  Guest speaker is Kevin Rees, retired attorney and landman, currently a French interpretive Tour Guide at Vermilionville.   His passion has always been history, especially French history in North America.  He will speak about the Early Colonial History of Louisiana from 1699 to 1763:  What is now Louisiana was claimed by Spain, so how and when did it become French?  For more information, go to LALGS.org
