April 3 – Music & Poetry Louisiana Style – Author and fellow musician Yvette Landry talks with Warren “Storm” Schexnider, the “Godfather of Swamp Pop,” about his life, starting with his boyhood in rural Vermilion Parish to meeting Elvis, Hank Williams, Robert Plant, and Fats Domino. Storm’s endless stories and anecdotes open a window into the life of a Louisiana music legend with a career spanning over 70 years. Louisiana Poet Laureate Darrell Bourque explores the ancient Arabic ghazal form keyed to paintings by Shreveport artist Bill Gingles in his latest book, Migrare’. The poems conjure a vivid, imagistic meditation on pressing issues of migration, difference and acceptance in the modern world. Sponsored by UL Press. Iberia Parish Main Library, 445 E.
