Halloween is just around the corner, and your best bet for safe family fun is the Scare on the Square, Magdalen Square in Downtown Abbeville. Your Vermilion Parish Library is a proud sponsor again this year, and there are fun activities for the whole family planned! On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, from 4:30 – 5:30 pm, we’ll have registration and judging for our Costume Contest, with medals going to the Prettiest, Most Original, Scariest and Best Group in three age groups, 0-3, 4-7 and 8-12. The Costume Contest winners will be announced from 5:30 – 6:00 pm. Mitch the Magician will be on hand to perform spooky magic tricks in the square. All costumes contests are open to children 12 and under. Just a reminder, please do not bring your pets inside the square while the costume contest is being held.
From 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., costumed children will be invited to “Trick-or-Treat” with participating businesses in our downtown area. As is customary, we request that only children 12 years and younger participate in “Trick-or-Treating.”
We anticipate over 600 people will be participating in the trick-or-treating and you can become an official partner!
*Be there in the square to hand out candy to trick or treaters from 6 – 8
*Donate candy to be handed out (drop off at Abbeville Library)
*Make a donation to defray expenses (and buy more candy)
