Wednesday December 7, 2022 at the Yambilee in Opelousas located at 1939 West Landry St. (Hwy 190) Opelousas, La we will have our TRIAD (Senior Citizen) Christmas party. It starts at 9am and ends at 12 with a lunch served. There will be live music and door prizes from local merchants and healthcare providers. Please join us if you can.
Triad is an agreement between the National Sheriff’s Association, International Association of Chief’s of Police and the American Association of Retired Persons. It was implemented to protect our senior citizens through activities that inform them of the latest fraud and scam’s tactics.
In April of 1994 St. Landry Sheriff’s Office, A.A.R.P. and ten municipal Chiefs of Police in St. Landry Parish signed our first Triad agreement. St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office has spearheaded the TRIAD by sponsoring the crime prevention workshops.
At our workshops it is a day of information on fraud, identity theft, drugs awareness, personal safety, and other safety issues concerning our senior citizens. Workshops are held throughout the parish to reach all of our senior citizens. Groups average around 250 during the workshops and 400-500 at the TRIAD Christmas Party in December.
