The March 18, 2020, senior citizen workshop in Arnaudville is canceled due to concerns of our senior’s risk to the exposure of the Coronavirus. This is the first time we had to cancel in 26 years but it is in everyone’s best interest. The next TRIAD is scheduled for June 10th, 2020 in Port Barre.
A workshop is a day of information on fraud, identity theft, drug awareness, personal safety, and other safety issues concerning our senior citizens. Workshops are held throughout the parish to reach all of our senior citizens. Groups average around 250 during the workshops and 400-500 at the TRIAD Christmas Party in December. After the workshops, our guests are treated to free lunch with all the trimmings donated by the sheriff. The workshop also includes door prizes from the sheriff, area merchants, and health care providers ranging from home decorations, personal items, to security equipment. The day is completed with games of bingo for more prizes. The grand prize is a check for 100 dollars donated by St. Landry Crime Stoppers. The winner has to be 60 or older.
