United Way of Acadiana, Healthy Acadiana, and Lafayette Public Library celebrates the opening of the Seed Library with ribbon cutting on April 18, 10am-11am at the Lafayette Public Library, 301 W Congress Street, Lafayette.
The Seed Library is a free program that is committed to cultivating social connections
within the community of Acadiana, while also promoting and fostering an interest in gardening.
The initiative seeks to provide educational resources and guidance to the community on the
essential aspects of seed cultivation, preservation, and harvesting, thereby reestablishing a
connection to the timeless tradition of producing nutritious and delicious food. Furthermore,
the Seed Library aims to nurture a culture of sharing, with a focus on building a local seed
inventory derived from native Louisiana sources. The Seed Library features a diverse
assortment of fruits, vegetables, and pollinator seeds, which can be borrowed and grown in
one’s own personal garden.
