The annual Carencro Veterans Day Celebration will look different this year while introducing some exciting new elements. A unique tribute video is being produced to honor veterans with the same gratitude and respect found in the live event each year. The video, which will be presented on the Carencro Veterans Memorial Facebook page, Saturday, November 7, will feature a few special guest appearances, as well as some familiar faces.

The patriotic essay contest for local students, sponsored by the Carencro Business Association, will continue this year, with top-finishing students recognized in the video.

“Our goal was to find a way to continue our long tradition of honoring veterans that also adheres to health safety measures in light of the COVID19 pandemic,” says Carencro Veterans Memorial committee chairperson Lynn Guidry. “We found a way to move ahead with plans for this year, while avoiding putting our treasured honorees and others in attendance at risk. I think people will be pleased with our video celebration, and we invite everyone to watch the video on Facebook and the City of Carencro’s website, beginning the weekend before Veterans Day.”
