The Fifth annual Word Crawl will take place on Saturday, September 8 at Art Walk in Downtown Lafayette. Sponsored poets will be scheduled to share their writings in the amazing event that will fill the air with metaphors at Cite Des Arts, Dat Dog, the Science Museum and other locations! Word Smiths of all ages will participate, from fresh, new writers to accomplished authors from Acadiana.
This literary marathon lasts from noon to midnight, winding its way through 6 different venues over a 12-hour duration. The event includes one session of French language poets and much more!
The Word Crawl will help raise funds for the 11th annual Festival of Words project. The Festival of Words project brings established authors from all over the world to Acadiana to give public readings, writing workshops in community centers and public schools during the first week of November. These funds will help to ensure the continued expansion and success of these programs. This year’s featured authors are Jack Bedell, Cornelius Eady and Ladee Hubbard.
