Help the American Cancer Society “Fund the Mission” by directly allocating funds to transportation assistance in Louisiana or cancer research.

The 2019 “Fund the Mission” initiative is sponsored by TIDES MEDICAL.

About the American Cancer Society:

At the American Cancer Society, we’re on a mission to free the world from cancer. Until we do, we’ll be funding and conducting research, sharing expert information, supporting patients, and spreading the word about prevention. All so you can live longer – and better. Last year alone, the Society provided over 24,000 services to cancer patients and families from Louisiana.

Help local patients with access to care:

Access to care, specifically transportation, continues to be a burden on many local patients facing treatment. Through our “Fund the Mission” initiative, donors have the opportunity to allocate contributions 100% to funding local transportation grants. All dollars pledged through this initiative will be available via application for cancer centers in our local communities, such as Lafayette.

Become a “Fund the Mission” donor:

While you may choose to remain anonymous, we will spotlight all “Fund the Mission” donors in the area during our August 24th Black and White Gala at UL in Lafayette. All donors who make a pledge by July 1st, will be included in the program and announced during the event in front of over 300 distinguished guests from the area. Donors are not required to be present for recognition, but additional information is available for the event.

Tickets are only available for the Friday, August 23rd performance of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Murder Mystery Dinner Theater fundraiser.

The Tonylou Awards Show begins at the door as celebrity gossip columnist Constance Gabbles greets (and insults) each celebrity. Then we turn the show over to your talented host T.J. Hardcastle and the ceremony is officially underway. But wait, is there trouble in paradise? Lorna Lush, has been diva, is toting more than booze. Monty Carlo might be a star in his own country, but his English is almost unintelligible. Celia B. DeMilo has a weakness for young men, and her newest boy-toy Claude-Jean will do anything to become a star. M.J. Hardcastle carries a grudge against her brother and his wife, Angelina Canoli, who “wins” an award every year. Funky Brewster is absolutely adorable, or is there a nasty secret lurking under that innocent exterior? The fact is, everyone has a nasty secret. Who gets murdered? Time will tell. Who is the murderer? Who knows?

Fund life-saving research:

Next to the Federal Government, the Society is the largest funder of cancer research. In fact, we are currently funding over $410 million in research grants. You can help grow these efforts by pledging a donation that will be allocated 100% to cancer research.

The new Lafayette Public Library app is here! Download it today for iOS or Android by searching "Lafayette Public Library" in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Once you've downloaded the app, simply log in using your library card number and PIN, and all your information will be available.

The LPL Mobile app has a few new features including booking study rooms and requesting items not already in the Lafayette Public Library's collection. It's fully-customizable, allowing you to organize services so that the ones you use most are right at your fingertips.

Looking for something to do? Our new calendar is fully-integrated into the app, allowing you to view upcoming programs and register with ease. Longtime app-users need not worry, either: patrons can still view their checkouts and holds on the go!

We've been saying it for years - "Libraries are more than just books," but that isn't saying that reading is less important than any of the countless other services we offer. In addition to our vast collection of books, audiobooks, Blu-Ray, DVDs, and CDs, we also offer 30,000 eBooks, several free databases (such as Lynda.com and Tumblebooks), and more than 2,800 programs throughout the year for all ages. Put simply, the Lafayette Public Library is serving our residents in as many ways as possible.
